ABOUT SRI VENKATAKRISHNAN SWAMY'S FAMILY AND HIS SIGNIFICANCE

Another special and important thing about this lord is that, he gives us his divine darshan with his family. He has by his side his consort RUKMANI, his elder brother BALARAMAN in his right hand side, and his younger brother SARTHYAGI, his son PRADHYUMNAN and his grandson ANIRUDHAN in his left hand side.

He has only two hands, he has a conch in his right hand and holds his left hand showing varadha muthira. Except for nachiyar koil in kumbakonam, here is the only place where the moolavar giving darshan with two hands. This is the speciality of this Thiruvallikeni divya desam. There are many other significance of this moolavar, having a moushtache, a small knife in his hip and also a big knife behind his varadha hastam. Another important thing is, his lips will be red in color, it is because, the history says that, he was having the habbit of chewing beetle leaves 'VETHALAI PAKKU', most of the people miss to see that. It is one of the importanat speciality of this lord.

The conch is not meant for blowing in the battle field, in that case he should have the conch in his left hand, but he holds it in the right hand which is for a special purpose. He touches devotees and gently caresses their cheeks with his conch. This gives them supreme knowledge and help them understand the power of his name.

The conch is also known as 'Panchajanya', this also means the five elemants with which the body is created. By touching the devotees with panchajanya, the lord gives them the power to reach him by uttering his name with full realization of its power.

The left showing varadha muthira means, the lord says "MAM EKAM CHARANAM VRAJA ,MASUCHAHA"(come and fall in my feet, i will give the salvation) this means when we go and fall in his feet, he gives the moksham. That hastam is also called as VAIKUNTA HASTAM, Vaikunta means heaven, the place which we all want to go without taking any more birth in this earth.

He has two knifes, one is small which he keeps in his hip, and the anthor one is big which he keeps behind his varadha hastam. These two knifes he keeps not for protecting him, but for protecting us. Protecting us not only means physicaly but also protecting us from all the sins we have done and giving MOKSHAM which is the only goal in our life for all the Srivaishnavas.

My next posting will be about the great utsavar Sri Parthasarathy and his speacialities, yearly utsavams, e.t.c
