EKADUTHANGAL UTSAVAM:-

Ekaduthangal utsavam is like a travel through long distance. The lord is carried in a pallakku with his two consorts, he passes through the main areas in chennai like mylapore, t.nagar, saidhapet,alwarpet etc. In all these areas the lord goes to different houses for mandapapadi(halt), there the people offers him various fruits, flower etc. He goes to nearly 50 houses on the way to ekaduthangal.
It is a place which is owned by lord parthasarathy, he goes there once in a year and spends nearly 4 hours. Thirumanjanam is conducted for the lord in that place after that alankram for him, then he leaves that place and passes through saidhpet, again there is a halt in saidhapet temple, then leaves that place and comes through alwarpet, mylapore, radhakrishnan salai and enters loyard's colony and reaches thiruvallikeni and goes through peyalwar koil street and reaches the temple atlast.
It is considered as an important occasion as the lord himself goes to see his place once in a year, we sripadham thangigal feel proud to participet in this occasion. For this occasion he leaves the temple at 1 'o clock in the early morning and reaches the temple at 11 in the night so this occasion goes through a day, this occasion comes once in a year and on a sunday for the convinience of the devotees (sevarthi). When he returns to the temple from the saidhapet temple, he wears "sungu" on his head, it is a type of kondai which is made in silk cloth. This is the kondai which the kings were wearing in the olden days, by wearing this kondai the lord looks like a king.
